Scheduling AM or PM?
-
When I schedule a post, there is no way to specify AM or PM for the time. How do I know my post will be posted, for example, at noon rather than midnight?
-
When you schedule, you’ll see a toggle button for AM/PM next to the time: https://wordpress.com/support/schedule-a-post-or-page/

Thanks for your reply.
That appears to be on the block editor, and I’m using the Classic Editor.
(Yes, I know I should switch. Unfortunately this isn’t a good time for me to try and learn to use anything new if I don’t have to.) -

Hi darnelldibbles,
Thanks for your reply.
I don’t see that calendar & am/pm time choce. I’d like to post a screen shot of what I do see, but I’m also not seeing any way to add an image to my post.
The scheduling option I see in classic editor just has a drop-down for the month, with boxes to fill in day, year, and time w/o am/pm option.
If you can tell me how to upload an image to my forum post, I’ll add it.

You can use an online tool for that, such as https://snipboard.io/. Upload the screenshot there and then paste the link to the image in your reply.
You can also follow the instructions described here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/.

I only see what staff-doublebassd sees if I edit a post in the classic editor via “My Sites”. If I edit a post with the classic editor via /wp-admin I only see the old system which the OP no doubt sees too. There is no AM/PM button but there is supposedly a 24 hour clock. I think this issue has been mentioned in the past. Perhaps the solution is to set the time as 11.59 to be close enough.

Thanks fresatomica. I do know how to make a screenshot, just couldnt see any way to upload it here as there used to be. But I wasn’t familiar with Snipboard/IO – here’s the link it gave me: https://snipboard.io/T3C7tG.jpg

Thanks magicrobot. I didn’t know there was another way to get the classic editor except in wp admin. I’ll check it out.
(Actually this whole discussion turns out to be academic – my scheduled posts seem to be posting at the desired time even without specifying am/pm, though I don’t really understand how.)

I checked it out. As far as editing, it doesn’t seem to be anything like classic editor even though it says it’s classic editor. But if I create a post and schedule it in wp admin’s classic editor and then go to My Site posts, I can open it up and confirm or change the am/pm, so it works if I need it.
Thanks again to all! -
Thanks for the details @themagicrobot!
@southplainfieldlibrary so right, if you access your posts directly from https://wordpress.com/posts/southplainfieldlibrary.wordpress.com, you should see the AM/PM switch. On WP-admin, as @themagicrobot mentioned, you’ll see a 24-hour clock. So, if you want your post to be published at 10 am, typing 10 will do the trick. If you’d like it to be published at 10pm, you’d type in 22.
If you’re not sure about the 24-hour clock but you prefer to edit your site from WP-admin, you can check this page for help with converting the time from AM/PM.I hope that helps :)

Thanks fresatomica – I didn’t register themagicrobot’s reference to the 24 hour clock. That explains why my posts scheduled for morning hours or noon are posting at the right time!
Thanks to all of you!
