scheduling time delay question

Hi all, I just started messing around with the time delay thing today. My question is is that I have a directory of radio stations that is still very much a work in progress. My question is this, I update the page at 14:32 and want it to publish at 15:00. Right after I have scheduled the update, I then go back and edit the page again, and I want these changes to take effect at 19:00. Can I do this, or will it put up both my edits at 19:00?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It will put up both your edits at 19:00.

Continuously rescheduling the publish times on pages is going to drive the search engines mad. If you have a page that is already indexed, and then google comes back and sees that the page is gone (because you have rescheduled it to republish on a different day at a different time) it returns a 404 file not found error until it shows up again. This disappearing/reappearing thing could anger the g00g to the point that they simply ignore that page entirely.

If you are actually talking about a post rather than a page, the situation is even worse since the published date is part of the URL for that post, and every time you change the date of publish the URL changes. Again the g00g gets 404 errors and will either toss your blog under a bus, or reduce your search engine placement and page rank. And again, they could possibly just quite indexing your blog.

My suggestion to everyone is to never republish or change the date on a page or post that has already been published and picked up by search engines. Doing an update to them is not so bad, but changing the publish date/time will cause issues.

I didn’t really think about this. I thought what would happen is that I could update the page and schedule that to take effect at the top of the hour or something like that, so as to not take the existing page down. Then, I would make more changes, and what I was hoping to happen was that I could have it schedule to update the page automaticlly at a certain time.

No not really possible. If you change a time/date of publish on a post to a future time, the post or page will disappear and then not reappear on the blog till the scheduled time you set. It doesn’t work like a scheduled “update” type of thing where additional information appears at a set time.
