Scheduling updates to posts?

Is it possible to schedule updates to a post to come into effect at a certain time? I’m hoping to post a feature in five instalments tomorrow. I’ve scheduled the first one, but I want to make updates at two-hourly intervals during the day. Can I schedule these, too, or do I have to put them in manually?

That’s interesting, I didn’t realise that: thank you! But that’s not my question. My question is: Assume a post is scheduled and gets triggered and therefore publishes, asn macmanx rightly says is likely to happen.
I would like to schedule an UPDATE to that post to come live about two hours later (when someone visits, I understand) and another one to come live two hours after that, and so on. I’m writing an evolutionary piece and don’t want to give it all away at once. :-)

Yes, you can schedule multiple individual posts to follow that are updates to the original post.

So how does that work, and what does that look like? Is it all going to be in one single post in the end, or will I have five separate posts? Thank you so much for your patience, I am still learning this (even after a year) X

It will be five separate posts. However, as I don’t use this feature any more I have flagged this thread for a Staff response to your queries.

Thank you for taking the time to talk me through this. I’d rather not have it as five separate posts so it looks like my best option is to ‘manually’ update the post throughout the day… unless the Staff response has another solution. x

I agree that manually updating the post is probably sounds as if it’s more attractive. However, the email to subscribers is only sent when we originally publish a post, not when we update it.

That’s fine, I’ll ‘signpost’ the updates and I’ve got the tweets in hand. There’s no limit to how often and how extensively I can ‘manually’ update a post, is there?

Thanks!!! Actually, one last question. What happens to the post while I’m in it, editing and updating? Will it be offline, or will visitors see the ‘old’ version until I’m done, even while I’m working on it?
