Scheduling – What time zone?
-
I’ve just tried scheduling a post for a future date but when I checked up (5 min’s after it was due to be sent) it was not there. I live in Australia. Does the schedule post work for one of the American time zones which are behind Australia? Many thanks in advance!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It works for your time zone – BUT the Post is not Posted until someone visits your site – at that point the Post is published and the time date set to the scheduled time.
Before you raise a ruckus – until someone visits your site nobody really cares if the Post is published or not – this saves a bunch of CPU time and saves money and server resources –

I’m not too sure about your theory. I went and accessed my site externally via someone else’s computer. Nothing happened. This morning I can see that my post went out 12 hours after my set time (I’m guessing that’s a 12 hour time zone difference). The WordPress help site says that scheduling will post at the allocated time and it doesn’t put in a caveat requiring someone else accessing it.

If you search the forums you will find that what auxclass says is accurate. This si what Staff (macmanx) said:
Scheduled posts are currently only triggered to publish when the first person visits the blog after the scheduled time.
For now, think of it as “schedule after this time.” https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/scheduled-posts-dont-post?replies=6#post-659030
