Scope of sharing via Publicize

    I turned on Publicize for Google+. When my WP posts are published, they appear on Google+ (good & expected). Under my name at the top of the post is “Shared privately.” When I click on the post to turn it over, I see, “You shared this privately via WordPress.” Problems: neither WP help nor Google+ help tells me 1) to what private group(s) I shared nor 2) how to change the scope of the sharing.

    “Shared Privately” means that only people in your circles can see this share. For more info: https://support.google.com/plus/answer/1283790?hl=en

    We don’t currently have a selector in the interface to allow you to change this setting, and “Shared Privately” but I’ve shared this suggestion with our dev team, and I will update you when I know more.

    Jerry, thanks for the reply. I agree with you that it is LIKELY that shared privately means with people in my circles. However, “shared privately” also appears when a post is written to one or two or any group of people who are not a circle. When I follow the link to G+ help it says, “If a post was shared privately with you, you’ll see Shared privately at the top of the post. Click Shared privately to see the profile pictures of others who can also see that content, as well as the total number of people the post was shared with.“
    On G+ posts put up through Publicize, the second sentence of the G+ help statement is not true. When I click “Shared privately” I only see a repetition of those two words and I do NOT “see the profile pictures of others who can also see that content, as well as the total number of people the post was shared with.” This is why I posted the question here.

    Hi Don,

    Wanted to follow up with you briefly to say that I found where you can change this sharing setting. Regardless of any apps settings (so ours, and others) you can modify who sees your shares here: https://plus.google.com/apps
