  Hi there,

  I am using the ‘Scratchpad’ theme and I want to know how to make appear my articles in a short way on my welcome page. Now we can see them entirely and it is very long.

  In the demo exemple, articles are presented in a short way and then we can click on ‘continue reading’ to go on. https://scratchpaddemo.wordpress.com
  I want the same thing as in the demo but I cannot find any button that can limit all articles to 300 words for exemple, in the front page.

  Hi Liz,
  There are a few ways you can do this: the ‘more tag’, excerpts, or theme.

  ‘More tag’: this splits up a post and only part of it will show on the homepage. A reader will need to click a link to read the entire post. Here’s the guide for that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/

  Excerpts: rather than splitting up a post like the ‘more tag’, excerpts let you use whatever words you want, whether it’s the introductory paragraph or a summary or something else. A downside is that excerpts are dependent on what theme you’re using and may not display on the homepage. Here’s the guide for that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/excerpts/

  Ok I will use the “more tag” action, I did not that exists, so thanks a lot for your help!
