Scratchpad Theme: Add Comment Count under Post Name?

    Hello all!

    Is there a way to show a comment count after the date of publication on the Scratchpad theme? Am I totally missing it? I’ve looked through my Dashboard / Customize pages and don’t see any option to add it.

    Hi Sarah,

    The theme Scratchpad has no option to display a comment count. If you need that feature you may try a different theme from our Theme Showcase:

    You aren’t missing anything. :)

    The option to display the comment count isn’t coded into the Scratchpad theme, so there isn’t an option in the customizer to turn it on.

    There isn’t really a simple way to add the comment count into the theme without modifying the underlying theme files (what is sometimes referred to as creating a child theme). The process of creating a custom child theme and uploading it to WordPress.com requires fairly advanced knowledge of HTML and PHP and is only available on business plans (as a volunteer I don’t know which plan you’re on now).
