screen resolution & accessibility
-
I sometimes have to use 800×600 screen resolution because of poor eyesight and am used to the fact that the main wordpress.com pages don’t fit into smaller screens but discovered this morning that the same applies to the new “add new post” page. In fact it’s a bit of a mess. Any useful suggestions please? I get the same issue with Firefox3 and IE6.

You can change the size of the visual editor. Move your mouse to the bottom right of the box, then click and drag to whatever size suits you. You can also move the other boxes around – perhaps put them underneath the editing box.

I just checked it out at 800×600 and I see what you mean. Definitely drag the Publish boxes underneath the main editing box. That should sort out the problems. Click on the blue bar at the top of the box and drag it where you want it.

Thanks – I’d tried that first off and it wouldn’t stick before, but seems to have worked this time around! It has been suggested that I should wear milkbottles on my eyes because my vision gets so bad!

You can also switch from the text/icon in the menu area at the left, to icon only which should help a little with width. There is a line with double-arrows on one end between the sections of the left navigation. Click on that line or on the double-arrows and it will toggle between the views. Then when you hover your mouse over the icon, the other selections in that particular section will show in a pop up menu.
