Screencasts as technical help

The new version at the TestTrack link is really interesting. Seems to make more things more accessible more quickly. And choosing from tags is a useful option.
Is it still going to be possible to use some kind of off-line blogging software (like Livewriter)? I am wondering how deep the changes will be or if they will only be interface related?

Thanks for that Mark.
I don’t suppose you could tell us if there will be any changes in the way we assign categories to a post in 2.7? The current way with most used/all categories and only displaying six at the time is a little annoying.

carocat – there is nothing I can add, sorry. I will try to remember to update that blog daily so you can follow changes there.

You know, I’m fairly sure I’m flogging a dead horse here, but I’ll say it anyway.
The thing I like least about that dashboard is the way that the links are in the form of icons. I would much, much, much rather have words. Words are clear and meaningful. Pictures need to be decoded and although that code may be obvious to the designer, it’s really not to the user. At least not to this user. I know there are issues in terms of usability for non-English speakers and probably all sorts of other reasons, too, but just so you know: words are really, really good ways to communicate clearly and effectively. I foresee all kinds of support problems when the new system’s up and running and my guess is that difficulties in decoding the pictures will only add to this.

Okay, I just found the way to make the words show. I’d have that set as default and people could hide them when they’ve got used to things.

Nice.
I like how things can be hidden. It makes things a lot more usable, at least for me.
