Hi – quick update – i am not getting an error on my mother’s computer (which is a mac – i have a pc)… so is the page ok and it’s just my computer?

First off, you are copying and pasting from MS Word, and that is a sure way to really mess up a blog. Word does not speak Web and puts in all sorts of junk code that can mess things up. If you are going to use Word, then follow the instructions in this support document: http://faq.wordpress.com/2008/09/09/bringing-content-into-wordpress-from-microsoft-word-screencast/ .

You really need to go through at least the posts on your main page, and redo them using the procedure demonstrated above in the screencast and then use that procedure from now on for pasting from Word.

When I load your page, I get 8 errors according to my browser activity monitor. 4 of them have to do with slideshare-audio. The 4 files it is trying to load report that they are “forbidden” and even though they actually end up displaying, there is something wrong somewhere there. Perhaps slideshare is having problems or there is a problem with a setting in your account at slideshare. I have next to no experience with slideshare so I don’t know where to tell you to look.

There are also 4 “not found” errors coming from wordpress file servers so it might be that wordpress is having an issue as well with a server.

That said, the errors above are unlikely to be causing the issue but they do need to be figured out.

The only other thing I see is 4 calls to widgets.clearspring.com for shockwave flash files but I see nothing on your blog from clearspring. Do you know what that would be?

As far as the problem on a Mac, Mac’s are simply much more quiet about the problem. I see the problem on my mac with your blog, but it doesn’t put up a warning box like windows does, and your blog loads very slowly and at one point almost seems to freeze. There is definitely something wrong.

thanks for the detailed response and analysis of the problems. I am sorry for taking so long to reply. I guess have a lot of work to do… (It’s interesting though, no one reading my blog that i have been getting positive feedback from has mentioned any issues. I also don’t have a slow loading problem.)

i have no idea what clearspring is…

Right now I’m seeing 4 different errors than I saw the other day.

My suggestion would be to contact staff directly and have them take a look at things for you, and include the link to this forum thread. The following are the errors I’m seeing in Activity Monitor in Safari 3:

http://s3.amazonaws.com/crossdomain.xml (2 separate errors listed as “not found”)

    http://slideshare-audio.s3.amazonaws.com/commonthreadsslideshow-090317022820-phpapp02.audio.xml (listed as forbidden)

    http://slideshare-audio.s3.amazonaws.com/wwstastingslideshow-090315073626-phpapp01.audio.xml (listed as forbidden)

From Clearspring’s about page it appears to be something about advertising:

Clearspring is the leading provider of widget creation, distribution, tracking and monetization services, used by the world’s largest media companies, advertisers, and widget developers. We help publishers and marketers extend their reach to the leading social networks, start pages and blogs and to respond to growing consumer demand for a more personalized desktop, Web, and mobile experience. Clearspring is privately funded and based in McLean, Virginia.

I’ve loaded two different wordpress blogs, and neither of them showed anything about Clearspring. Are you advertising on your blog, or did you try to advertise on it?

You might try going to settings, writing, on your dashboard and check the box marked: WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically.

That seemed to clear up some of my problems with script errors.
