SCROLLING IMAGE BAR ON TEMPLATE
-
Hi there,
I have just recently begun trying out wordpress in the interest of purchasing a template for work. In the meantime I have downloaded the ‘sight’ template and am trying to figure out how to place the scrolling image bar which appears on the display. (similar to a traditional ‘flash’ type image scroller.I have searched through image uploads and the whole appearance menu without success and even googled for plugins. Can you tell me how to do this. If I purchase a template will this be simple to achieve?
Also, our current website is run from dreamweaver. What is the best method to switch over so a wordpress site is linked to our current URL?
Thanks,

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate. They run on different software and themes by the same name are different versions that are not transferable from one to the other.
This is a free hosted WordPress.com blogs which we provide support for on this support forum. http://katiehurlow.wordpress.com/
The only themes you can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs are the 208 found here > Dashboard > Appearance > Themes
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install plugins, upload third-party themes or edit templates or themes. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

Featured Slider
Sight displays up to 30 of your latest sticky posts that have featured images in a prominent slider on the front page. To add a post to the slider, mark it as sticky http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts and give it a featured image.
Sight featured images
Large: 640 x 290 in the Sticky posts slider
Small: 290 x 290 thumbnails are used on the home, category, tag, archives, and search pages.

What I posted above applies to the version of the free Sight theme available only to WordPress.com bloggers.
This is the version of the theme for WordPress.org installs. http://wpshower.com/themes/sight/
All support for WordPress.org software is provided here http://wordpress.org/support/

Hi, thanks for the feedback. Sorry If i made my question confusing. I am trialling wordpress with the free SIGHT template but looking to purchase DEBUT as I prefer it. But before I did, I wanted to see how the system worked.
So my question was relating to how to get the scrolling picture bar to scroll pictures. I have loaded images (static ones) but couldn’t find where to amend the moving ones. I’ll try the sticky post and see how that works. Should this happen automatically as I dont see the image slider on my page as it appears on the template.
Thanks

Okay now I get it. Your question is really about the Debut theme and you wasted our time above.
Let’s cut to the chase. Every theme here at WordPress.com is designed differently. There is no way to add a post slider to any theme here that is not already designed to have one. Debut has a post slider and the way it operates is clearly stated here in the theme description http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/debut/
Debut is a premium theme is a premium theme and we Volunteers answering questions on this forum don’t have access to or experience working with premium themes. Read-access to the premium themes forum is now open to all users so you can search to see if your question has been previously asked and answered there. The premium theme forums are at http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/ with separate sections for each theme. http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/debut
