Scrolling Side Menus

  The scrolling blog in place of the page change is nice. But now it takes forever to scroll up to my side menus. Can you make a theme feature where the side menus stay at the side while the page scrolls. And by the way I dispise the bottom theme bar. It detracts from my site. Can you find a subtler approach to advertising your service?

  If you have infinite scroll activated and you’re logged in and have scrolled down from the top your page you should see a little upwards-pointing arrow in the centre of the admin bar, clicking this will scroll you back up to the top of the page.

  You could pin your sidebar to the viewport using CSS if you opt for the paid custom design upgrade or the premium plan however if your sidebar is longer than a user’s screen is tall there will be bits that they can’t see. Seeing as people will visit your site from lots of different devices and browsers it would be almost impossible to guess how to set this up unless you only use one or two widgets.

  halluke, Thank you. I think I will try disabling the infinite scroll. It is a nice feature but I have over two hundred posts in one category and my viewers I assume may not have the up arrow. Thank you again.

  I also notice that if I turn off infinite scroll the WordPress banner stays at the bottom of the screen where it belongs instead of constantly being displayed. I have no problem displaying that I am a WordPress Blog. But I resent the way it is displayed. I do not want my reader to feel that I am just using some cookie cutter theme and filing in a form. I think it would be more appropriate confined to an about screen. Or at the bottom where it belongs.

  BTW unclicking infinite scroll does not resolve the problem. It appends the posts to the bottom of the previous page. I have two hundred posts in one category and my readers most likely would not be logged in. Perhaps WordPress could provide a mechanism for my viewers… a prompt for the top of the page.
