I no longer have access to my email that is attached to the site I created, and want to attach a different email account. The really bad thing is that I don’t remember my password, and don’t have access to any ‘change password’ notices that are emailed to that defunct email. Please send me a password reset via SMS phone. Thank you. I was sick – is that any excuse for sheer stupidity on my part? It’s a mess.

What I post below applies only to sites hosted by WordPress.COM. It does not apply to WordPress>ORG software installs.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by WordPress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
* You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with the actual blog’s name in that URL.
If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login correctly under the relevant username account.
You can update your email address here https://wordpress.com/me at any time.
If you did not register the site under your username account and do not have the required access, then you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it, and have them act or transfer the site to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
If the login information has been lost go to
https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#lost-passwordThere is only one means of account recovery.
If you check each and every possible email address and account and are not successful gaining access to the blog(s) then you must complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff, and provide proof ownership, so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums, which are available to everyone with internet access.
Support Staff cannot breach the privacy policy and provide the log-in information. You have to provide proof ownership to Account Recovery Staff to gain access https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

Hi there,
What’s the site’s address associated with the WordPress.com account you wish to recover?
Thanks!
-
The site URL is 66.147.244.174/gonenati/
That address was emailed to me. The site has the long name ElderSpirit Community at Trailview, and will eventually go to http://www.elderspirit.org. I’m not sure whether the email associated with this is (email visible only to moderators and staff) (which I can not access) or (email visible only to moderators and staff). When I first embarked on this I used several different names such as gonenative.us, gonenativeus, and one including mountainlight, but the one I gave you is the current one. Please let me know if you need more info. Thank you. -
66.147.244.174/gonenati/ is not hosted at WordPress.com.
This support forum is for sites hosted at WordPress.com. You should ask for help from your hosting provider.
If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

Fstat – you may be right. I honestly do not remember whether I used WordPress.com or WordPress.org as a platform to create my site. You tell me it is not a WordPress.com account, but I really wonder. Would you mind looking into this more deeply and point me in the right direction? So tired of getting the brush-off. I absolutely must have access to my site, which is hosted by Bluehost. Thank you.

Hi @jmtelderspirit,
I’m sorry you’re running into walls. I can’t speak for what @fstat might find in your WordPress.com account, but you can start with contacting Bluehost if you haven’t already. Their homepage has live chat and a phone number you can call (https://www.bluehost.com/). No staff or volunteer at WordPress.com has access to your Bluehost account, so it is, as you say, a brush-off to say “call Bluehost.” I would help if I could, but I don’t work there.
Ask them how your email is set up. They may be able to see. I’m not guaranteeing that, though; usually, one’s registrar would have the major DNS settings where most people set up their email routing with something called MX records, but you haven’t registered your domain with a registrar yet (that’s why Bluehost gave you an IP and not http://elderspirit.org). WordPress.com nor WordPress.org have native email hosting built in. It’s set up with MX records with GSuite, Zoho, Rackspace, or another email provider. We’re most likely a dead-end in your journey to restore your website and email. The only way we’re not is if you subscribed to the Jetpack plugin and connected it to your WordPress.com account.
I’m sorry I can’t help more. I wish I could. Let us know how else we can help (assuming we can 🙁).
Best,
Jesse -
Hi @jmtelderspirit,
As @jessestu already said you should contact Bluehost which is your hosting provider.
The only connection your site has with WordPress.com is the Jetpack plugin. Jetpack is using the infrastructure of WordPress.com and lets you manage your site through a more modern dashboard, view statistics, and much more.

Thank you for your responses, jessestu and fstat. You both suggest going via Bluehost. Well, I’ve been trying to get some action there for at least 10 days. Because I don’t remember my password they go through a lengthy “retrieve my account” process that includes my completing a form for them, which I have done. A chat helper told me it could easily take them two or three weeks to get me back in. I understand security issues, but that is insane! I even attached a .pdf of their receipt for what I paid, and a .pdf of an email they sent me in August confirming the account, but still no action. Anyway, I’m not mad at you guys. It’s my own fault that I forgot the password. I am mad at Bluehost, though. Thanks again!
