Search bar issues
-
I have search bar on my site but it doesn’t seem to be particularly effective .
Case in point if i type in ‘gin’ I would expect it to direct me to this post http://songsfromthehowlingsea.com/2011/02/01/the-gin-craze/ but it doesn’t, despite the word ‘gin’ being in the title. Instead it ives me these options: http://songsfromthehowlingsea.com/?s=gin
What can I do to improve this? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I see the http://songsfromthehowlingsea.com/2011/02/01/the-gin-craze/ post show up as the 3rd result for this search http://songsfromthehowlingsea.com/?s=gin but I see what you mean about the other two posts that appear first—they’re not really the best search results.
That’s just how the current built-in WordPress search works. We may upgrade the search on WordPress.com in the future. I’ll see if I can find any additional information about that for you and reply back here as soon as I know more.

I checked in with our data team and there are some plans in the works to update search inside WordPress.com blogs, but the changes won’t be implemented for a while. Hopefully it helps to know that it’s a planned update though!
Cheers :)
