Search box greyed out

  • Unknown's avatar

The search box on my blog is greyed out so that you cannot read the word ‘search’ on the Sight theme. I’ve tried changing the background colour, including putting it back to default, but you still can’t see it. I’ve not changed any coding on my site.

    Hi there,

Unfortunately there is no setting where you can change the color of the search bar. If you are interesting in customizing the search bar, you would need to purchase the Custom Design add-on which you can read about right here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

And then once you have that you can modify your site’s CSS (including the appearance of your search bar).

Thanks for your response, but I’m not trying to change the search box – I just want to see it. In the default, you can see the word ‘search’ and the magnifying glass icon. On my site, I can’t see it – it has just turned into a grey box, so looks kind of useless.

    My site is http://pathwayofpoetry.com.

    Hi Angela,

I took a look at your site again, and I am able to read the word “SEARCH” in the search bar just fine. Here’s a screenshot of how it looks on my end:

I’m not sure if it will come through for you, but the word is quite clear on my screen.

Depending on monitor settings, sometimes two similar colors (in this case light and dark grey) can fade together. This was why I suggested the Custom Design, so that you could make it appear more contrasting and vibrant for you.
