search box restored; tags restored
-
I had a web designer remove the search box from my WordPress blog as well as the keyword tags. Now I want to restore both, but she has gone out of business and I don’t know how do it myself. Is there anyone who can help me with this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Valorie,
Your designer used the following custom CSS to remove the search box and tags from your site:
#searchform { display: none; } .entry-categories, .entry-tags { display: none !important; }I just removed that CSS from the CSS section in your site’s Customizer to restore those on your site. (If you decide you want to hide them again, you can paste that code back into the CSS section there.)
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

Hi Valorie,
If you’re interested in learning CSS, we have tips for getting started here:
If you’d like to see how other people customize their sites with CSS we also have a CSS Customization forum. It can be a great place to get ideas and help from others (including some volunteers with extensive CSS experience).
That should help you get started with CSS — let me know if you have any questions about that! :)

I simply cannot connect to wordpress. It just keeps cycling and cycling when I use Chrome these past couple of days. I tried downloading Mozilla Firefox, but it has its own issues. Is it on my end or on yours?

Hi Valorie,
Are you having trouble everywhere on WordPress.com, including at https://wordpress.com/ , or only on your site at http://bookscansavealife.com/ ?
-
Everything seems fine now. Yesterday for several hours my site was a mess and I also had difficulty accessing other people’s WordPress blogs.
-
Sorry for the trouble! I’m glad it’s all working now — please let us know if it becomes a problem again.

Why do I have six likes on one of my posts but it shows up as zero likes in my WP reader? Are the reader likes only those from WP people who follow me?
I will stop emailing you directly, as I know I need to use the forum, but I do want to say I don’t like this new format for creating blog posts, for a number of reasons. For one thing, I cannot pull menus down all the say, such as my categories menu, so I have to open my blog in another window and see what my list of categories are.

Hi Valorie,
Likes in the Reader and your site will match up, though there may be some lag between both are updated. I’m seeing your most recent post display 9 likes both on the Reader and on your page:

This thread is in our staff answers forum, where the public can view it but only staff can respond. :)
Thanks for the feedback on the new editor though, those are valid concerns that we’re actively working on. I’ve brought this conversation to those developers attention.
If you prefer to work purely out of the classic editor, it’s still available via the /wp-admin/ dashboard:
http://bookscansavealife.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
I recommend setting browser bookmarks to that page, as well as your All Posts page here:
http://bookscansavealife.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php
And the new post page here:

I certainly would like to have our entire conversation removed. I thought this was a private email, which is why I was so negative in my feedback. I don't go to the forum, this arrived in my email.

Hi Valorie,
We only delete forum threads if they are a personal safety or security threat to a user, their site, or WordPress.com:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-forums-community-standards
It doesn’t look like anything discussed here is a threat.
Sorry if that was confusing, but when you started the support thread 4 weeks, the public box was checked. This lets you continue the conversation with replies over email, but adds the information to the public thread here:

I thought it was a comment directly to support staff; my mistake.

I’d like the comment removed. If you can’t make an exception, I’ll re-assess my use of WP.

Hi Valorie,
I’ve redacted your comments specific to that issue but have left the rest of the thread up.
