  Is only when you upgrade to a paid plan that people will start seeing your contents in search engines ?

  You do not need a plan in order for your site to be indexed by search engines and discoverable within search results.

  What’s important is to make sure your site is set to “public”. Here’s how to adjust that setting for your site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
