  I recently got a new domain name(10min ago). When i type my name into google it lists me as gadgetnational.wordpress.com even though i bought a new domain but when i click on my site the url bar lists it as http://www.gadgetnational.com How do i make the search engine list me as just http://www.gadgetnational.com instead of .wordpress

  If you have worked through all the steps here http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/register-domain/ and paid particular attention to 3. then you have seen this:

  If you do not see your blog at the new domain immediately, please allow some time for the DNS changes to propagate.

  When I click your username I see this in my browser bar http://gadgetnational.com/

  It takes time for the change to propagate throughout the internet. It can take up to 72 hours.

  It will take probably at least 3-6 months before your new domain name will start showing up higher than your old URL here. Anytime you change domain names, it will take time for your search engine ranking to recover.

  The good news is that anyone using your old wordpress.COM URL will automatically be redirected to the new blog URL which will help. The search engines will see this as well and start making adjustments.

  Thanks by the way i realize you volunteers answer questions but are you guys doing this all day i see the 2 of you posting all day long.

  I spend too much time in the forums, but that will end probably tomorrow as I’ve got to get my final packing push done so the movers can pick my stuff up the following Monday, and then I’ll probably be pretty scarce for at least a couple months while I get settled.
