Search engine desciption (metadata?)

    Hello,
How do I change the meta data (? I think this is what it is called) that appears along side my site in search engines such as Google. It currently has the stock text from WordPress “This is an example of a page. Unlike posts, which are displayed on your blog’s front page in the order they’re published, pages are better suited for more”. Naturally I would like to change this to something more descriptive.
    Many thanks,

    Chris.

Hi there. How long has your site had content on it? It could be that the last time Google crawled your site the default text was all there was and it should update as soon as Google crawls your site again. You can help this occur more often by creating new posts on a regular basis as WordPress informs search engines every time you create a new post so they can be indexed. A website consisting of static pages like yours, rather than posts, don’t get re-indexed that regularly, I’m afraid.

Another thing that might help is to verify your website with Google Webmaster Tools. Instructions to do that here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
