Search engine description changed on its own

    Yesterday I noticed that my wordpress website’s description on Google and Bing was changed from the proper description of my company to spam about drinking alcohol (which has nothing whatsoever to do with the company).

    I can’t figure out how this was done – I have looked through the source code of each page of the website and cannot find any reference to the line text that now appears on google’s results.

    Is there anything I can do to change Google and Bing’s description? I have downloaded the plugin ”YOAST SEO” and made a new metadata description but it hasn’t taken effect on the search engine results. I am worried that someone has hacked the website and changed something that I don’t know about.
