Search engine terms missing from new stats!
-
Hi guys, the “search engine terms” section is missing from the new stats page!
I know the data is more limited than it used to be, but it’s still an extremely valuable insight into the minds of people finding us through search engines.
I know this info is still available by clicking through to the old stats, but our worry is that the old stats will be dropped in due course.
PLEASE restore search engine terms to the stats!
Many thanks,

Hi James,
Thanks for letting us know that these search engine terms are valuable to you! The search engine terms section was removed because so many search engines are now encrypting their search information, which means we aren’t able to capture the search engine terms and tell you about them.
That said, others have raised the same concerns and we’ve let our team know that even the more limited data is important to you so they can consider bringing that data back to the new stats page. I can’t make any promises about changes to the new stats page, but there are no plans to remove the old stats page at this point so for now you can continue getting those search engine stats there.
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help!

I also would like this feature back. You do still get the search terms if Google lists your https url instead of the http url!
(Browsers don’t pass https –> http referrer info but do pass https –> https allowing the search keywords to still be logged / shown in the reports).

Hi, until recently, the new stats page offered the ability to click on the “Search Terms” heading and see the search terms in full, on a full width page.
This is very important because the two column format of the new stats page means the search terms “fade out” after around 4-6 words! That makes it impossible to identify the specific long-tail phrases that we’re getting found for.
The same thing applies to the “Clicks” section. Until recently, we could click the heading to see the list of clicks on a full width page. We have a lot of pdfs on the website, and pdf clicks are logged in this section.
The new stats page tells us nothing about these clicks because only the beginning of the file paths are visible, and of course they allstart happyguideblog.files.wordpress.com. Without being able to see the end of these file paths, we have no way to see which pdfs are being clicked on.
So please restore the ability to click the section headers and see the data on the full width page. Or even better, display the data in one column as you had it not long ago, which displayed everything just fine, on ONE page! :-)
Many thanks,

Hi James,
I see what you mean — sorry for the trouble with those sections! I’ve reported this issue to our team so they can look into it.
In the meantime, there are a couple ways to view more details about those sections:
1) If there are enough items in a section, you’ll see a “View All” link at the bottom of the list to take you to a full-width page. If you look at your stats over a long period (for example, Weeks instead of Days) you’re more likely to trigger that “View All” link.
2) The two-column view was set up in response to a lot of feedback our team received about having to scroll too much to view all the stats on a desktop or laptop. However, the columns respond to your browser size — if you make your browser window narrower, you can trigger a single-column view that will show more of the file paths and search terms in each section.
I hope this helps. Thanks for the feedback!
