    Do Search Engines index the blogs here on WordPress? If not automatically, is there a way to entice them to do so?

    WordPress.com does indeed optimize their sites for search engines.

    First, make sure that you have encouraged search engines to index the site: Go to Dashboard –> Settings –> Reading and make sure “allow search engines to index the site” is checked. You also might consider signing up for services like Google Webmaster Tools so you can look at data to find out what search terms are driving readers to your site.
