Search Feature Should Include Tags
-
I have an e-commerce WP website. The theme uses the native WP search function. When searching, products with tags matching the search term are not returned. The search apparently only looks at title and body of product pages. Tags should be included in searches. This is most important for customers to find what they are looking for. Thanks.

Hello @ether7464,
Please send the link to the website you’re working on, so we can check.

For instance, if you look at this product, it has a tag “super seven”. If you search for this, it will say that no products were found.

Hello @ether7464,
I checked your website – https://etherway.com and I see the “Search” option at the top. It searches the texts from your website, and it doesn’t include the tags. (e.g. if you search for “fish” it will give you items with “fish” on the title.
Your website is hosted by InMotion Hosting, and you’re using a self-hosted WordPress site. This forum is for users with websites hosted by WordPress.COM. You can find better help from this forum.
If you’re using the Product Search extension of WooCommerce you may find this link helpful – https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-product-search/
If you’re only using the Search widget provided by your theme, I see you’re using Flatsome by UXThemes, you can contact the theme developer directly or check the support page from this link.
See more information about the difference from this link.
I really hope this gets sorted out.

I did not realize this was a forum for WP hosting only. I’ll seek further on the .org forum. Thank you for your feedback, Rose. It’s been very helpful.
