Search feature to pull from tags

It would be helpful if the search feature would pull from more than just the title and body text. Tags and author/contributor names would be very helpful.
For instance, if someone is visiting my site and they know the name of a specific author who wrote a post, they will most likely just type the author’s name into the search bar. But if the author did not put his/her own name into the post then the search will not show any results for the authors name.
If the search feature cannot pull from the author’s name then a work around would be that I could tag the authors name and the search feature would pull the tag, however, the search doesn’t pull tags either.

Have you tried making author names categories?

I don’t want all of our author’s name showing up on another area of our site that displays the categories. Thank you so much for the suggestion though!

I have been here for over 10 years so I will be frank. What you are asking fin 2 threads now are already available for wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting. If you need and want these to happen soon do not hold your breath. See: Moving to self hosted WordPress http://move.wordpress.com instead.

Okay thank you. My apologies. I was in a live chat and was advised to put them in this forum so I did. We are not interested in a self hosted site. I was simply following the instructions from the live chat.

Yes, of course, Staff advise starting threads here. However, I have been here for over a decade. I predate all support docs and I predate all but one support staff member being on support staff.
I did not want to leave you hanging in the air waiting for something that’s not going to happen any time soon, if at all, especially when you can get want you want today by moving to a self hosted wordpress.org install.
