Search feature

    Both. It’s always helpful for Staff to know all those details because the way they determine causes of issues and fixes for them is to duplicate the exact set up we users have.

    @sometimesihatemycat

    it used to stay there when I traveled to specific blogs, and it allowed my to search on that specific blog. The other search option you mentioned seems like it only searches all of the blogs and is too broad for my purposes

    Thanks for clarifying here. I don’t think this is a browser or device-related issue. We did remove the search function from the admin bar as part of some work we’re doing to create a more unified admin bar across all of WordPress.com.

    For now, there are two main options:

    1. Use the search form embedded on the individual site if the user has chosen to put a search widget in their sidebar
    2. Append the following to the end of the URL:

      /?s=test

      So, for example, on the site jeremeyduvall.wordpress.com, you could search for “dog photos” using the following:

      http://jeremeyduvall.wordpress.com/?s=dog-photos

    Great, that clarifies things a lot. And those tips help. Will the search box be coming back?

    As of right now, I don’t believe there are plans in place to bring back that specific search feature in the admin bar. However, it might be something we reconsider later on as we continue to make adjustments or implement in some other fashion.
