Search for text within unpublished drafts (body text, not titles)
-
I’d like to revisit a topic that was discussed under this topic back in 2019. I have a free blog on WordPress.com that I access via Firefox. I want to search for a specific word in the text of a draft. The goal being to see if I’ve addressed the topic in an earlier, now forgotten, draft.
The obvious way would seem to be to go to Posts and click on the (Drafts) button to get a list of my 175 drafts and then use the Search function on word. Unfortunately, that jumps out of Drafts and lists all instances — Drafts, Published, and Trashed — and forces me to then use Find on the word Drafts to find the two instances out of eight (or one instance out of 175) that are (Drafts) containing (word).
So, I know how to do it. My question is, is there a less clunky way? One that will let me specify both the search word and the entry status at the same time?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello Steve,
I have tried to run a search on my drafts and it seems the way you describe is the only way to go around the issue. Maybe if you can narrow down an exact term to match the content you are looking for. It returns fewer entries to go through.

Thanks, Therefoiam, I was afraid of that. It’s not something I do very often, so it’s livable-with. I’ve found that telling Firefox to ‘Highlight all’ instances of ‘draft’ on the results page makes it easier to find.
Steve
