Search functionality

being able to search by Catagory and especially search by country would be good. Primarily I’m interested in reading blogs from my own country and there is no way to filter that.
the general search functionality on the whole could do with cleaning up, and being able to categorize Blogs to specific subject groups (in much the way Live journal does) would be a HUGE improvement.
Unless this is already possible but is burred so deep I cant find it?

I agree. I have been looking for something similar to this functionality. I feel it is a bit difficult to “surf” blogs on WordPress. I really like the option to browse to “random” or “next” blogs and being able to input my own search word, for example “Sweden” Since I am interested in other people writing about Sweden. It owuld not have to search the whole blog. Maybe tags, categories, titles or just the most recent posts. I feel like I am forced to look at the popular freshly pressed blogs or only use the tags that are the most used. It would be nice to get more control over what blogs I can find or stumble onto, make it more of a community by not only bombarding the lucky freshly pressed blogs with hundreds of (Unanswered, because there are so many) comments. I came to the forum to bring this topic up, glad I found someone already mentioning it.

You can search by category, tag, country, key word or any search term. Do remember that it’s users who make category and tagging decisions. They alone decide which tags and/or categories to assign to their posts. Please see here for the format and more details for global tag searches > global tags
