Search not recognizing categories in Hemingway
-
I just changed to Hemingway and have begun to see what merging my different menu planning blogs to one place. To assist us in finding what we seek, I used both tags and categories. I attempted to use the search widget, to see how it displays hits, however it didn’t recognize Listing Lunch nor Describing Dinner. It did not grab truncated ones either OR only one or two (example: lunch). I am wondering if this is a glitch or if I need to tag or category differently for the search to work properly. It will take me tons of time to create an index. I am also bad at it, which is why I wish to use the search :) Thank you! ps. after moving tons of posts manually, i wondered if there was an import feature–there IS and it worked well!! woohoo!

Static pages are not Categories.
Below is an example of a static page URL.

Study it closely please and note that only dynamic category pages can automatically update.

There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and there are some tweaks you can use to improve your custom menu as well.

re: WordPress.com search
The WordPress.com search engine indexes post, pages, and comments content (body text). Unless entered as text in those contents, blog name, post titles, and post/comment author names are not indexed. http://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpresscom-search/ -
re: search wdiget
The Search widget will return results from the titles and the bodies of your posts and pages, and from media titles, alt text, file names, and captions. It will not return results from widgets, comments, categories, or tags. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/search-widget/See:

OOO thank you! I got the categories drop down widget working JUST how I wanted it to work. I really should take the time to figure out custom menus. If I could find this thread again later I could use all of your links and helpful words to try. I appreciate your time. I feel the issue is resolved.
