Search rankings lost after Domain Redirect upgrade

  Last week, I moved from wp.com to a self-hosted blog. I’m using the exact type of permalinks that I was using with WP.com and all my posts are redirecting properly, however my search rankings suddenly dropped drastically.
  Do you know what’s the cause for it and can this problem be resolved?

  It looks like your domain name is new – purchased last week – so it is new to the search engines – it will take a while for the search traffic to come back up – @raincoaster says it also happens to blogs that stay on WordPress.COM and switch to a custom domain name – keep putting new content on your site and it will come back up as the search engines switch your name
