Search terms on site stats

  I have Googled the same search terms I see on my site stats page but do not come up with my blog. I’m confused about what these terms are and how WordPress found them. Can someone tell me exactly how WordPress discerns what search terms people are using to actually arrive at my particular blog, if this indeed is what is happening?

  There are many flavors of Google and Google is not the only search engine

  Many times a search engine will pass the search term to a site a person visits – when that happens the Stats here record the term used to get here – note also that the link to your site might be on the 8th page or somewhere

  So, the search terms I’m seeing on my site stats page ARE the actual terms someone used to find my particular blog, hence that’s how they are listed on my site. And the link may not be the top one or even on the first page (but usually people don’t go very far to find a link).

  I guess that answers my question.
