search uploaded images
-
The only thread I could find on this was closed. Is there a way to search uploaded images? Someone’s hotlinked one of mine and I want to delete it to teach her a lesson, but I can’t find the damn thing now. I have 66 pages of images! Is there no way to search?

Hmm, no, but that’s an obvious idea for the new WP admin redesign.
If the image was attached to a post and is displayed in that post, you can search for the filename from Manage/Posts. Edit the post and it’ll be in the Browse tab.
If not, contact support and we’ll see if we can help.

Yes, but that doesn’t take me to the place where I can delete the image from the server, just from the post. That won’t affect hotlinking. Under the Browse tab I get 66 pages to browse through. Doing so, I find that many of my earlier images appear to be gone; why’s that?
This is the post:

And there’s only one image there. What really burns me is that the HOTLINKED image is in google. Mine is not. -
If you edit the post, click the Browse tab in the upload box, click on the image and then Edit, there’s a Delete button. That will remove the file from the server.

Yes, but I can’t FIND the image within the browse box, because there are too many other images. It only brings up all 66 pages of images when I try to edit the post. It does not find the image within the vast horizons of the uploaded image herd. I tried. That’s what I wanted to do, but the problem is paging through all 66 pages to find it.

Awww… I felt bad for you rain, so to help out a bit, I stumbled the photo! May your hit count do a Sunday Spike.
Why don’t you do a switcheroo on her? I have a few suggestions from the test your avatar thread.

You DID? I love you, Ian!
I left a warning on her blog (it’s a radio station blog, a commercial thing, so there’s no excuse, she just must not know). I was polite, so I figured I wouldn’t replace it with anything horrible, at least not for twenty-four hours or so. After that, fair game.
Although I’ll probably replace it with “Want to see this image? It’s fantastic! And it’s exclusively at Raincoaster.com!”

rc: it’s in the Browse tab (not Browse All) of the upload box on the Edit post page. That tab shows just the files attached to the post you are editing. There is exactly one image there, and it’s the one you’re looking for. Click on it, then Edit, then Delete.

It’s not as if he doesn’t already have a Flickr account.
Ian: 122 hits on the post. Thanks!
