Search Widget not working properly
-
The search on my site http://markandrewstrength.wordpress.com is returning strange results. It will not show most tags/categories (type in ‘strength training’, get this http://markandrewstrength.wordpress.com/?s=strength+training . One post, and my front page is below the post??)
All results show my front page content below the posts returned. They also are not showing all results and/or wrong results.
Thank you for help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Mark,
When I search strength training on your site, I get the following, which looks correct to me:
https://cloudup.com/cq7ejhYGQP5Is that not what you’re seeing? If so, can you please provide a couple more specific details about what posts you expect it to bring up for which search terms that it’s not currently showing?

Hello Eurello,
That is what I saw. And it does not seem correct at all? (I previously have always used WP, but self-hosted. Never an issue, because I could go into the code and make real-time changes, and have a sandbox to try before I would let things go live.)I switched themes, seeing if that would help things at all, as the Search is probably the most important aspect of site going forward. Also because of the issue mentioned above.
If you pull up the Strength Training category, you will see 3 items, and if you click that link, you will return 4 results: http://markandrewstrength.wordpress.com/category/strength-training/
Posts that are tagged/category: ‘Crossfit Will Kill You’. ‘The Science of Happiness’. ‘What Needs to be Hacked?’.
These should show. Also, if my drop down is listing 3 topics, it is displaying 4, is that correct? Maybe my wp.com skills just need a huge refresher?
Thank you kindly.

Hi Mark – I see. The search widget doesn’t index categories or tags, but only post/page titles and content. The widget behaves the same regardless of the theme you are using.
Also, if my drop down is listing 3 topics, it is displaying 4, is that correct?
That is odd. I think what’s happening there is that you have three published posts with that category and one published post with that tag:
https://markandrewstrength.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?category_name=strength-trainingSo I think the count is displaying three (accurately), but the category archive is also pulling up the posts with that tag.
