Search Widget Title Change

  How about the ability to change the search widget so the text “search” is customizable? Just like the categories, archives, pages, recent posts widgets. I know this will affect each theme differently, but some way to make it say “search all posts”, “search this blog”, etc so the reader knows what they are searching (since they are searching just posts and not pages as well) and to make it suit each blogger so they can word it how they want. Just an idea…and yes feedback will be sent Monday ;)

  The searchbox will pull up any words in the text or title. I can use it to find a specific string on my blog tight now. Doesn’t yours work the same way or am I missing the point you are trying to make?

  Maybe I didn’t make it clear sorry. I want to change the header text of the widget itself. If I go into the Dashboard > Presentation > Widgets then I can click on the configure box on the far right side of some of the widgets that I listed above. I can then change the title of that widget, but currently I am not able to configure the “Search” widget.

  I had no idea that we could change the titles on widgets. I thought we couldn’t. Which ones have you found that you could change?

  These are the ones that have a customizable header box when I go into the configuring of the widget:

  I may have missed some as different themes have different widgets available. Some themes don’t have the search widget since they have a built in search box I believe. [edited by Trent – just in case]

  Good grief! I had no idea this could be done and I’ve been mis-informing others saying that it couldn’t be :-( {banging head on keyboard}

  Well don’t bang your head on it too hard you will need to use it to change all of your titles now ;)
