search works for one blog, not the other?
-
I started one blog under my name, then realized I wanted it under a different, better name (The Parenting Gig). So I started a 2nd blog, and even paid extra for name to be the http://www.parentinggig.com (and loose the wordpress in address). Anyway, my posts to my old blog, http://www.lesliepenkunas.wordpress.com, come up nearly immediately in google search. Those SAME posts to my other site have yet to show up. Anyone know why? Do I need to delete my lesliepenkunas blog address? I really want my new blog address, http://www.theparentinggig, to come up on searches, so I’m a bit concerned.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It takes time for your all your content under one URL to be reindexed indexed by search engines under the new domain URL. It will be 3 – 6 months before that process is completed and Googles flushes their caches. During that time both URLs will appear in search engine results. Do nothing.

For greater clarity please read what follows. The reason we purchase domain mapping is so that all the URLs from the .wordpress.com root blog when clicked seamlessly redirect to the same content in the post under the new domain URLs.
The pagerank and authority the blog earned was earned by the .wordpress.com URLs and belongs to them. It’s not transferable. so what that means is the domain starts from zero. In about 4 – 6 months time the content will all be re-indexed by search engines under the domain URLs and all things being equal the blog will probably have the same pagerank and authority it had prior to purchasing domain mapping. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/register-domain/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/register-domain/If you do not renew your domain mapping then all those domain URL’s are broken and the blog reverts to the old .wordpress.com URLs. Then all those broken links are there for months until the search engines like Google index them again under the .wordpress.com URLs and clear their caches (3 – 6 months).

Thanks so much–very helpful! Disappointing in the short-term, but helpful, and I do want to be free of the wordpress.com anchor (despite its great benefits for blogging) in the event that I might want to do more with the site one day (i.e., post articles on it avail for reprints, etc). Guess it’ll take longer to build traffic through search engines than I’d hoped.

I’m glad I could help you. The 10 factors that tend to expdeite indexing by search engines are all found here. You’re welcome and best wishes.
