Searchable Gallery

  I would like to create a User Gallery that is searchable.
  I understand that you can use tags to search for images within blog posts. I would prefer a User Gallery that would allow users to create their own album and add it to the gallery, as well as offer an image search feature.

  Can anyone offer recommendations?

  Each individual Author and Contributor (and higher ranking Users) could use draft posts or pages to assemble a gallery or album of images on a selected topic. These can later be combined by an Editor or Administrator to form a single gallery.

  Image search feature

  Apparently there’s been a NextGEN gallery image search widget available at WordPress.org since 2010, but as far as I know this feature is not presently available on WordPress.com websites.

  I believe the NextGEN search widget is a tool for the back-end.

  I am looking for a search tool that visitors can use.

  On the following site you will see two examples. The first is a Gallery that has no user search function. Gallery2 has a search function for the user, however it is very limited in the way you can display images.

  As musicdoc1 has already mentioned, NextGen is available for WordPress.org sites. This is the support forum for sites hosted on WordPress.com. We cannot use that plugin here, nor any outside plugin for that fact.
