Searching for "how to" information in WordPress
-
This forum is great for helping people like myself who have a difficult time trying to figure out how to do anything in WordPress. However, I understand that the proper approach is to first look for answers to your questions on the extensive WP help/info logs. I try to do that before I post these queries, but invariably, I can never find the correct answers, and often even information that relates even tangentially to what I want to learn. Does anyone out there have any tips on how to search WP most effectively when you run into something you don’t know how to do? Thanks.

Yes.
Do not use the built-in search. I never do. Use Google. Go to google or Bing or whatever you like and put the following in the search box:
thing you are looking for site:en.forums.wordpress.com
Like this:
millions of hits site:en.forums.wordpress.com

I learned a lot by just looking in the Forum – many of the questions repeat every few hours is seems. You can also see then some of the things that others are doing.
I also just sort of paged through the support documents and looked at the titles and clicked on the ones that sounded interesting.
