search.wordpress.com does not pick up blog post

  I cannot find my blogposts on search.Wordpress.com

  I’m using jetpack, my blog is not private, …

  What am I doing wrong?

  Hey Tom!

  Since your site is self-hosted, it won’t appear in the WordPress.com search. That function searches only sites that are hosted at WordPress.com. We don’t have access to the files on self-hosted sites, and cannot include them in our search.

  I hope this sheds some light on the issue. Now that you’re self-hosted, Google is going to be how people find you, rather than our unique search tool.

  I recently moved my blog lingeringresonations.wordpress.com to a selfhosted site (lingeringresonations.com) as well. I still pay for the Original link to forward to the new host though.

  I guess it’s the same story there?

  And just to be sure: the same is true for the wordpress reader right? If someone adds a tag that is used in my blogposts, it will not show up?

  Yes, sadly. While your domain is pointing to your new site, we don’t have access to your actual content. Those searches hunt through our own servers.

  Yup. You’re right. The Reader is also specific to WordPress.com sites. That community is definitely one of the benefits of hosting here at WordPress.com! We’d always love to have you back ;)
