Second profile?
-
Hi. I would like to be able to comment by a different name at my newer blog. Is that possible, and if so, how do I create a second profile?
Thank you for your help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you have multiple e-mail addresses you can have multiple profiles on WordPress.com Just logout of your account and signup for a new account. If you want a new username, but don’t need a new blog associated with the new profile use the link below:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1
Note: This link will redirect if you click it while logged into your account.
Let me know if you have any questions about that!

Hi Liz,
Thank you for your help and sorry I haven’t gotten back to you sooner. For some reason, I didn’t see this response in my inbox.
I tried the link you provided. I already have the second blog (www.joannectimpano.com).
What I’m looking to do is be able to comment as Joanne C Timpano (or simply Joanne) at that blog. At present, my responses to comments are as Joanna Aislinn.
Did I make any sense?
Thanks again and hope you had a great weekend!

I think I understand.
The problem is both of your sites are connected to the same username. You can change your display name to whatever you want, but if you change it on one site, it will also change on the other. If you are ok with going by Joanna on both sites, you can make the change here:
https://joannectimpano.wordpress.com/wp-admin/user-edit.php?user_id=4750887&wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2Fusers.phpHope that helps!

Thanks again, Liz. You helped in that you told me I might not be able to do what I would like.
Could I invite myself as a “new” user on the “invite new users to your blog” page?
If so, what would be the best ‘role’ to take on?
If no, can I separate this blog from this WordPress user name and create another one?
Have I confused you enough yet?
Thanks!

You can. I recommend you first create a 2nd WordPress.com account using this link:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1Once the new user account is up and running, log back into this account and use the “invite new users” page to invite yourself.
Once you have the new account, I would invite the new “you” to be an administrator on just the new blog. Then when you want to post as the “new” you, log into the new account. When you want to be the current you, log into this account.
Does that make sense?

Liz, I greatly appreciate your help.
I also ask your patience to indulge my questions just a little while more.
The link you provided still sees me as my current user name, joannaaslinn. I already have two blogs under that user name. Are you suggesting I start as a totally separate user–i.e., at wordpress.com, as if I had no existing account?
Thanks again!

Yes, that’s exactly what I mean. In order to get your desired result you need two separate usernames connected to two separate e-mail addresses.
As far as WordPress.com is concerned, you will be two separate people.
To do this, you’ll need to log out of your current WordPress.com account, and then use the link I gave you to create the new, separate account.
After that, the rest of the instructions I gave you will make more sense.
