security

Hi, I was wondering how to set security settings on my blog so my stories and pictures can’t be used without my permission?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Don’t put them on the web – I am serious – if I can read what you write then I can copy it –

Hi there,
If you are looking for a link you can click there isn’t one unless your intend to make the blog visibility private. > Settings > Reading
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/Please understand that nothing prevents anyone from stealing anything on the internet. See here for preventing content theft. http://en.support.wordpress.com/prevent-content-theft/
Your best option is to watermark all images before you upload them and do not upload any image at a high resolution, as the web only displays 72dpi anyway. If you use theDuotone right click is disabled but it does not prevent anyone from figuring out how to get around it. Disabling right is not available on any other themes and will not become available as it creates a false sense of security. Anyone can find instructions on the internet and get around it in less than 20 seconds flat. What’s best is watermarking your images or not placing any images you don’t want stolen on the internet at all. This may help http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2007/10/19/watermark-your-blog-images/

Thank you all for replies. I did expect the “if we can see it, we can steal it” to be the general answer, but I had seen someone else’s blog. They had a copyright on the bottom of their page and a little write up saying no works or pictures can be taken without consent. It is the only one I had seen but was enough to make me wonder if that was an option…
Sorry for being a little vague – I only joined today and am still learning my way around!

Yes, that’s an option covered here > See here for preventing content theft. http://en.support.wordpress.com/prevent-content-theft/

Good for you. :)
On the bottom of your Admin page you will find a link to the Learn WordPress.com blogging Tutorial prepared by Staff. http://learn.wordpress.com/
The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also on the bottom of your Admin page.

the copyright and rights reserved etc. will slow down an honest person – but an honest person was going to give you credit or ask if they could use an image or something
