Security

Hi. I read your help section and it said that all sites through WP are secure. However when i navigate to my page – sometimes – but especially from FB it says that my site is unsafe, an requires me to certify that i want to continue before continuing. It also says to be careful not to input any personl information into my website, before taking me there.

Then once one my site is open, all the way to the left in the URL bar, to the left event of the website address, it says ‘Not Secure’ with a little caution sign next to it.

If my site IS secure, how can I remove that URL ‘Not Secure’ status? I understand WP may not be able to control how FB navigates to my page, but the site itself says ‘Not Secure’ when I’m there. Even when FB or some other page doesn’t warn me before navigating there.

    Site: http://www.thegreatfullgarden.com.
    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

It looks like you’ve been reading instructions for sites hosted here at WordPress.com. Your site is to be found over at Dreamhost so you need to approach them about SSL.

    Hi there!

Please note that your site at http://www.thegreatfullgarden.com. is using the WordPress.org software and is hosted by Dreamhost. We aren’t able to provide direct support for sites using WordPress.org as this forum is for WordPress.com sites. If you aren’t sure about the differences, please check out this page: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.

Since your site is hosted elsewhere and is using the WordPress.org software, you’d want to reach out to Dreamhost (your hosting service provider) first so that they can help you out further.

The “Not Secure” message from the browser is because your site doesn’t have an SSL certificate installed. We provide free SSL for all WordPress.com sites. You’d want to reach out to Dreamhost to find out how to install an SSL certificate on your site so that the “Not Secure” message is no longer displayed.

You can also post on the WordPress.org community forum here if you have more questions: https://wordpress.org/support/forums

    Regards
