I keep getting notifications that strange email addresses from ‘outlook,com’ are following my blogs, but they do not appear in the list of followers. What is going on?

Hi there, thanks for letting us know. There is a current wave of spam followers with Outlook.com email addresses. You can find other forum threads on this topic by clicking here> https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/spam-followers
Staff have indicated in those threads that they are removing the suspect followers for you. That is why you don’t see them in your People/Email Followers dashboard.
Until this current wave is over, you can turn off notifications of these new followers by changing your settings here: https://wordpress.com/me/notifications Click the arrow on the right and uncheck the box next to Site follows > Email.
