Security alert

A blog reader has reported to me that he is getting a “Security alert” pop-up sometimes when he visits my blog. The alert box says:

“The identity of this website or the integrity of this connection cannot be verified…” and then goes on to talk about the security certificate not being trustworthy. This naturally makes it problematic to proceed.

He says he thinks it may have been caused by one of the advertisers that WordPress puts on wordpress.com pages.

Is this something others have experienced? Does the alert look like a genuine alert or is it perhaps some sort of scam? Most importantly, what can I do about it?

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, it may happen when someone visits your site at the HTTP address and not HTTPS. https://theway21stcentury.wordpress.com/ All WordPressdotcom sites are served over secure server.

Visiting your page at the correct address just now in both Chrome and Firefox latest versions, I did not encounter any alert.

Thanks for that idea Jennifer, I’ll ask my friend what URL he was using.
