Security at Risk who is responsible

I set up a commercial website with a webdesigner, including paypal , then moved to another webdesigner to upgrade it. This included a new business email etc. What has happened is
    1. The new email was not transferred to link in with my paypal so payments have not been received
    2. Anyone who logs in and registers into the website can access the admin panel.
The new webdesigners are saying it is not their fault as they didn’t start the website, I think it is, as I paid them for updates and maintenance which included doing tests before it went live and this should have been noticed by the coder and project manager, who is responsible?

  • Hi there,

It’s impossible to help you if we don’t know the address of the site, but it sounds like this is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, not a WordPress.com site, in which case we’re not able to help you.

You will need to sort this out with the web developer you hired, but maybe your hosting provider is also able to help.

You can also try posting in the self-hosted WordPress.org forums in case someone there knows what you need to do to restrict access to your site’s dashboard:
