Security in making wordpress sites?

    Are there any specific steps to secure your WordPress sites?
    Or there are any chances to get hack even after updating a new version of WordPress? As we know many times it happens if you didn’t update the latest version there are chances that you might get hacked. And also I want to know how to manage who will become an admin of your site, some times it happens that someone becomes an admin of your site without your knowledge and your site become spammy.
