Security Issue

  I recently was given a username and password for creating blogs for a celebrity magazine called Glitter and I have recently left them. I am concerned because the manager who created my password knows my account password each time I update it on WordPress and I am not able to delete my wordpress account. This worries me because they could publish anything under my name without my consent.

  What can I do about this? Can you disable my account?

  I think, changing the password to your WordPress.com account should keep everyone except you away from your dashboard.

  Hi there, if you believe that somebody has compromised your account or you are at risk of your account being compromised, changing your password to ensure it is a strong one is the best thing to do: https://en.support.wordpress.com/selecting-a-strong-password/

  I’d also suggest highly recommend using 2 Step Verification: https://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/

  Consider disabling or changing your Post by Email address, but most importantly, ensure that nobody knows it: https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/

  Also, ensure you turn on two step authentication on your email – I can’t stress enough how important that can be, regardless of what other services you use. If you need help with doing that, let us know your email provider and we’ll try to assist.

  Hi there,

  What is the address of the site in question? There are no sites connected to the WordPress.com account you’re using to post here.

  It sounds like they created a contributor account for you directly on that site. If that’s the case that account only exists in that site’s database, and has no connection whatsoever to your WordPress.com account, and as long as you don’t use the same username and password for other accounts (something you should never do in any case), there’s no way they can use your details from that account to access any other account or site you own.
