Security, Scalability and Performance of Sites under Business Plan
-
We’re considering the business plan to host our site, which we’re currently hosting in-house.
We’d like to understand the security practices at WordPress.com, to see that they would be appropriate to host our content and that we wouldn’t be the subject of defacing or loss of data.
We’d also like to understand the hosting infrastructure at a high level and understand whether the site will scale to meet our anticipated ~10k users in the near term and potential ~100-200k users in the medium term.
Can you give us some insights into how the platform is configured to handle our site?

Hello,
The best way to answer this knowledgeably would be to have someone direct from WordPress answer this question. They have been alerted to this post and will be back to you soon. It may take some time since they are on a company-wide trip to better their abilities to serve all of us. Read more about it here.
Thank you kindly for your patience.

Hi there,
We do not give detailed information about our security infrastructure. I can only tell you that we use secure data centres, and follow best practices in terms of who can access your site and account data and under which circumstances.
We host thousands of sites that receive hundreds of thousands of views a day, and even sites that have millions of views a day without any problems.
If you mean users, as in members on the site, we have no limit on how many users you can add, but all users will need to have their own WordPress.com username accounts, regardless of what membership plugin you are using.
