Seeking Deleted URL for New Blog
-
Hello,
We are switching our blogging platform from Blogger to WordPress and now have a brand new blog: http://www.girlscoutseastma.wordpress.com
When trying to change the URL to “girlscoutsemass” (all of our other social media handles use this format), we discovered there was already a blog started with that address (http://www.girlscoutsemass.wordpress.com [now deleted]). We were able to obtain access to this blog, but unfortunately, I misunderstood the warnings about deleting a blog, and deleted the blog in hopes of using its URL on the “girlscoutseastma” account.
I have already read the policy on recycling URLs, but am seeking special support from WordPress staff on behalf of Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts. Is there any way we can reclaim the URL girlscoutsemass.wordpress.com for our new account?
I understand we could purchase the domain, however reusing this URL is our preferred solution. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Please do not hold your breath because we get many requests like this every day, day in and day out. The only exceptions are for URLs that were deleted 2 or more years ago https://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

Hi there,
Before I can look into this for you, I will need for you to post in this thread using the account username associated with the deleted blog – in order to confirm ownership.
Then, I can take a look at the status of the blog and see if you have any options for retrieval.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Hi staff-doublebassd, thanks so much for your response!
Unfortunately, I must have deleted this username right after deleting the blog itself so as to not get confused moving forward..
I have an email receipt from WordPress called “Email Address Update Requested” that states: “We recently received a request to change the email address for the WordPress.com user girlscoutemass from [email] to [email].” The first email is the departmental email on the girlscoutsemass account that we obtained access to, the second email is my personal email that I started girlscoutseastma with.
Would this receipt suffice as proof that we did in fact obtain ownership of the girlscoutsemass account? Let me know if there is a way for me to attach a screenshot or further details.
Thank you!

The user account is not deleted and was logged into as recently as two weeks ago.

I only see the admin username “girlscoutseastma” when I go to https://girlscoutseastma.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php
It says there is only 1 total user, “girlscoutseastma”.
This is the username we have been using while we try to re-obtain the username “girlscoutsemass”. If I am looking in the wrong place, please let me know.

The account in question was removed as a user from https://girlscoutseastma.wordpress.com two weeks ago.

Yes, that is what I was referring to when I said “Unfortunately, I must have deleted this username right after deleting the blog itself so as to not get confused moving forward..”
Does the email I referenced suffice as proof that the “girlscoutsemass” username was legitimately in my possession?
-
The account was not deleted, it was just removed from the site. You can still log into that account and post here.
The email you referenced does not help in this situation I am afraid.

Thank you for clarifying! I didn’t realize I could log into it.
Here I am in the “girlscoutsemass” account. Hoping this confirms ownership and helps us move forward.
Thank you!

I have sent you an email to the address associated with your girlscoutsemass WordPress.com account. Please let me know if you did not receive it.
