Seeking Help to Combat Spam Comments and Indexing Issues

I’m currently managing my WordPress site https://allofinsta.com/, and I’ve been facing some issues with the comment section. Initially, I had the default comment section enabled, but it quickly became a target for spam. This has led to several problems, including a flood of spam comments and the indexing of comment URLs by search engines.

These issues have negatively impacted my site’s performance and SEO practices, and I’m trying to find an effective solution. Specifically, I’m looking for a reliable anti-spam plugin and a way to remove comment URLs from being indexed.

I’m reaching out to this community to seek advice from experts on how to tackle this situation effectively. Any recommendations for plugins or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hello

Have you gone into your discussion settings (Settings > Discussion) and lowered the amount of URLs allowed in the post? I’ve noticed scammers like to include 3. I would attempt to lower it to 1 link – or maybe not allow any links.

You can check out https://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/antispam/ for Plugins that might help. Akismet by Automattic (https://wordpress.org/plugins/akismet/) is one of the top ones and one I have used in the past.

I would use the moderation tools and then get rid of all the spam comments. Search Engines should recrawl your site and notice the spam / spammy links are gone.

Also on the Plugin page are addons that will put a CAPTCHA (the letters you must type before submitting a form) into your comments section to stop bots posting unwanted content.
