seeking help with WP web interface *not* WP software
-
I’m a WordPress newbie but have done web authoring as a sideline for close to 15 years. I’m starting a blog-lite and seem to be able to do much of what I need via the WordPress web interface (aka dashboard). As I take my first steps to develop this blog, I’m seeking answers for doing work via this web interface (and with complimentary widgets/plugins). In time I’ll probably graduate to the software but for my start-up, where do I go for help with the web interface? When I Google for answers I’m often directed to the WP Software proper (is there a better name for it) – and I’m just not there yet and it’s a muddle.
Is “web interface” the agreed upon term for it, is “dashboard” better?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Best,
Paul

The jargon at wordpress.COM (and with a selfhosted blog with WordPress.ORG for that matter) is “Dashboard“

may I also suggest:
http://learn.wordpress.com/you may also note the important “Support site” referred to at the top of this page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/….
and just to set the record straight about wordpress.COM which we are using here, and WordPress.ORG which is the software with plugins: -
Thanks dlager,
The com-vs-org page was massively helpful. I think I’m off and running (or walking). My first mission is to figure out how/where to put an contact e-mail address for people to write me via my blog. You removed an obstacle that hobbled me, now I know where to learn.
Thanks again,
Paul
