Seeking theme & image-quote program recommendations

Hello Happiness Engineers, My new blog Beautifulgroovyawesomegreat has a “Feel good have fun spread joy” inspirational/spiritual intent. I want to post image-quotes using my own awesome sailing, garden and other nature photos. I’m not a tech whiz, so I am playing around with easy image-quote programs like Quotescover.com – but apparently WordPress doesn’t accept that one. Are there any simple-to-generate-image-quote-using-my-own-pics programs WP does accept or do I need a plugin? Hate to bug ya but I’ve been researching this for six days now, so it’s time to call in the pros. Also, I’m in search of the best theme for BGAG, considering I want to use image quotes as well as uplifting posts, video links and galleries. I initially chose Cubic but am also considering Matala and Spectrum. Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated. I’m eager to learn, as my first novel will be coming out in the fall and I will need an author’s website by then to up my game! Have a blissful weekend, Namaste!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m not super familiar with Quotescover.com, but in the bit of research I did just now, it looks like you can create image-quotes on the site and then download them as JPG or PNG images. Is that true?

If that’s the case, the best thing to do is use the program to create your images, then download the image as JPG or PNG, upload the image to your media library and then add the image to your post the way you would any other photo.

    Will that work for you?

Cubic seems like a good option for what you are describing. I recommend you start with that, get your first images created and posts written and see what you think. It’s pretty easy to change themes so even if you decide to change later, you won’t end up with too much “wasted” work.

Thanks for the theme guidance, Liz. I’ve already taken the step with Quotescover.com of saving as jpeg and then following the normal procedure that I do for my other blog (which has a gallery and featured image) of simply uploading from my pics file to the blog.
The Quotescover.com image won’t load. WordPress notification screen says it’s not “accepted.” And the icon looks funny in my pic file, like a blank square, like it’s not recognizing that it’s saved as a jpeg. Could be that Quotescover.com, which is apparently in beta testing, still has bugs. So it would be fantastic if I can get recommendations on any other easy-image-quote-using-my-own-photos programs. There are many image-quote programs that provide text and background but my focus is original pictures and text. :) Thank you so much for your response and hope we can keep this discussion rolling. In the meantime I’ll stick with Cubic and may play around with Quozio or whatever else might be out there that is simple enough for Cyndi non-coder to use for image quotes. Have a great week!

I did some more testing and was able to get the .jpg and .png files to load to my test site without a problem. Here’s the process I followed.

    1. I started from the create quotes page here: http://www.quotescover.com/category/wording/quotes
    2. I used a quote from the system, but you can add your own quote on this page as well.
    3. On the next page I used the “Pinterest Pin Picture” tool because it creates an image the size you want.
    4. On the next page I added an image to the background and played with the fonts.
When I was done, I clicked the Save as JPG and Save as PNG buttons so I’d have both formats.
    5. Next I went back to WordPress.com and opened my media library.
    6. I added the images directly to the library using the add new button (rather than adding the image from the post screen)
    7. One the image was in the library I was able to add it to a post without a problem.

Could you try to add an image following this process and see if you have better luck?

Yes, Liz, will try steps as outlined and report back on how it goes. Also got a helpful e-mail from Quotescover.com developer. Your responsiveness is greatly appreciated!

Sorry to stray off-topic but the log-in page is in Spanish. Is this a bug or what? Not proceeding until I know I haven’t been hacked. Fingers crossed!

It’s a bug. We are working on it. I promise you haven’t been hacked :)

You’re rocking my world! Just logged on and the Espanol is back to English and it looks like the Quotescover.com image is fine and dandy, too. So grateful. Working on blog later. Will shoot you a message about what I am sure will be a positive outcome but in the meantime thank you for exceeding my expectations with your beautifulgroovyawesomegreatness.
